PORT ANGELES – The mighty Elwha River will soon have a new bridge spanning its banks. Work began Monday, April 17, on a brand new bridge, which will carry US 101 across the river and keep communities connected.
PORT ANGELES – Traffic is flowing simultaneously in both directions again on US 101 west of Port Angeles. Fish also have more room to swim in Indian Creek with the recent completion of a fish barrier removal project.
QUILCENE – A busy construction season in Jefferson County begins Friday, Feb. 3, on US 101. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will start a one-year project that corrects culverts that are barriers to native fish at Leland Creek and two unnamed tributaries near Leland Valley Cut-Off Road.
It's easier to skid or lose control traveling at higher speeds. Give yourself more time to stop.
Winter conditions could mean chains are required on your route. Practice putting them on your vehicle ahead of time.
Carry extra supplies like warm clothing, ice scraper and brush, jumper cables and other emergency items.
