Exemptions

Who is eligible for exemptions

Most drivers will pay tolls for every trip they take on a toll road. Only specific groups or people doing specific activities can travel on toll roads without paying. 

The only vehicles that do not pay tolls are:

• Authorized, on-duty emergency vehicles enroute to an emergency on the roadway.
• Highway maintenance or transit operating vehicle for state, city or county agencies – including incident response vehicles, transit service supervisors, facility maintenance vehicles and authorized tow trucks enroute to an incident on the roadway.
• Rideshare vehicles with Rideshare license plates
• School buses – 16 passengers or more capacity
• Publicly owned or operated transit buses or shuttles
• Privately owned and operated passenger buses operating on a fixed schedule and route.

To be exempt vehicles must fall into one of the categories above, have a Good To Go! account, install a valid Good To Go! pass in the exempt vehicle, and submit the correct exemption application form.

Tribal exemptions

WSDOT, in consultation with the Attorney General’s Office, determined that Yakama and Nez Perce members have treaty preemptions that allow free access to toll roads as written in their treaties. At this time those are the only tribes with free access to all toll facilities in the state

If you are a member of a tribe that is eligible for exemptions, please contact your council office. 

Apply for an exemption

To apply, fill out the exemption form that best fits your situation then open a case at www.MyGoodToGo.com to submit the application. 

If you already have a Good To Go! account:

Log in and go to the “Contact us” tab and use the “For Non-account related questions or to provide feedback” option. 

Select “general inquiry” and fill out the required fields. State in the comment you are applying for an exemption. Then attach your completed exemption application form to the case using the “Attach file” button. 

After submitting your application, please take note of the case number as you may need it later to review your application’s progress. 

If you do not already have a Good To Go! account:

Go to the “Contact Us” page on www.MyGoodToGo.com and open a customer service case, selecting the “For Non-account related questions or to provide feedback” option.

Select "general inquiry" and fill out the required fields, and state in the comment you are applying for an exemption. Then attach the completed exemption application form to the case using the “Attach file” button.

If you’re unable to submit your application online, or need additional help, please call customer service at 1-866-936-8246 and ask to speak with a Toll Exemption Specialist. 

Who sets exemptions

Exemptions are set by the Washington State Transportation Commission which also determines what toll rates and operating hours will be for toll roads in Washington. 

Once set, the exemptions are added to the Washington Administrative Code. You can find the exemption-related codes in WAC 468-270-030, 468-270-085, 468-270-095, 468-305-210.

Toll discounts

We currently do not have any options for discounted tolls.

There are no reduced cost tolls for electric vehicles or vehicles with ADA plaques or license plates. 

However there are still ways to reduce your toll bill’s total. 

Save money on your toll bill

Open an account

When you pay your toll bill you have the option to open a Good To Go! account right then to reduce the cost of each trip by $1.75. 

To open an account, enter your toll bill information on the MyGoodToGo.com homepage, and once you are viewing the bill online select the “Lower this bill with a Good To Go! account” option and follow the prompts. 

Use a pass

Drivers who use a Good To Go! pass pay the lowest rate on all toll roads in Washington. 

You have the option of not using a pass, but each trip without a pass will be an additional 25 cents more than the Good To Go! rate. 

Have fees and civil penalties waived

Customers who have accrued late fees and civil penalties may qualify for our one time forgiveness program which could waive late fees and civil penalties from a bill. To see if you’re eligible, and to take part in the program, you will need to call customer service at 1-866-936-8246 and speak with a representative before you pay the bill. We cannot waive fees and penalties that have already been paid. 

Valid toll charges cannot be waived and will need to be paid when the fees or penalties are waived. 

Payment plans

We currently do not offer payment plans. But if you need help with your bill, please call customer service at 1-866-936-8246 as we have additional ways to help.
