All manuals & standards

Find manuals, standards, specifications and details covering requirements for projects.

Manuals provide policy and guidance to staff, local agencies, contractors, and consultants to help us deliver an efficient and effective multimodal system.

Project Delivery Memos are design and construction documents used to implement an immediate change in any stage of project, from design through advertisement and construction.

Find information regarding annual updates to the Standard Specifications, read/download WSDOT General Special Provisions (GSPs), read/download APWA General Special Provisions (GSPs) for local agencies and download/update the contract software for writing and compiling specifications.

Find drawings and details that cannot or do not qualify as Standard Plans, but may need to be included in contract documents. Includes items that require adjustment for site or application specifics, experimental designs and retired Standard Plans.

Use the drawings found on this page to standardize fabrication, installation and construction methods for specific items of work. They complement the contract documents and the Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction.

manufactured with at least 1/8 of an inch tread. Traction tires are usually marked with a mountain/snowflake symbol, the letters M+S or “All Season.”

Carry chains, practice before leaving

Requiring chains keeps traffic moving during storms rather than closing a pass or roadway.

Prep your car. Fill up your gas tank,
