SR 500 42nd Ave - 54th Ave Safety Improvements Study - Public input

WSDOT appreciates everyone who took time to provide input on the SR 500 Safety Study via an online survey, online open house, social media posts, phone calls, emails or in-person feedback. We also value the collaboration and time our partners at the City of Vancouver, Clark County, C-TRAN and the Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council provided to support this study.

SR 500 42nd to 54th Open House

With input from the community, agency partners, area schools, businesses and emergency services, WSDOT has selected the Right In, Right Out concept to improve safety along SR 500 in Vancouver. Emergency service providers and the public were most supportive of the Right In, Right Out concept, because it balances significant safety improvements to SR 500, while maintaining some connectivity to SR 500 from local streets.

Safety improvements associated with the preferred Right In, Right Out concept are predicted to reduce the number of collisions at or near the intersections by up to 70 percent, as well as to improve travel times on SR 500.
