Studies show that roundabouts are safer than traditional traffic signals or stop sign-controlled intersections. They accommodate vehicles of various sizes, including emergency vehicles, buses, bicycles, semi-trucks with trailers, and farm and logging equipment.

The detour map for Phase 1: Eastbound traffic will detour onto Benedict Street and Washington Street before returning to SR 20. Westbound traffic will turn right onto Kearney Street and left onto Jefferson Street before returning to SR 20.
Detour map for Phase 2: Eastbound traffic will continue to use Benedict Street and Washington Street. Westbound traffic will use the southern side of the new roundabout through the intersection with Kearney Street.
