Public Transportation - Green Transportation Capital Grant Program

The Washington State Legislature provided $12 million for a new Green Transportation Capital Grant Program (RCW 47.66.120). The grants are provided to transit agencies to fund capital projects to reduce the carbon intensity of the Washington transportation system. Examples include electrification of vehicle fleets, capital facilities to facilitate fleet electrification and/or hydrogen refueling and upgrades to electrical transmission and distribution systems.

Following the passage of I-976, Gov. Inslee directed WSDOT to postpone projects not yet underway. This provides the Governor and the Legislature flexibility to determine how to adjust the funding gap in the 2019-21 transportation budget during the upcoming session. Learn more about the delay and related projects (pdf 256 kb).
