SNOQUALMIE – Construction along State Route 18 near Tiger Mountain has slowed traffic through the area since it began. With temporary speed limit reductions on the way next week, travelers should plan now for a little additional time for their trips through the end of next year.
SEATTLE – With projects affecting all of the region’s major freeways this summer – as well as many projects on smaller state highways – people need to plan ahead for travel, whether it’s the everyday commute or the big summer road trip.
The Washington State Department of Transportation has many projects scheduled during the summer construction season, including:
BELLEVUE – Construction begins this spring on a $109.5 million project to improve fish migration and restore natural stream conditions for Sunset Creek under Interstate 90 in Bellevue and people can learn more about the project in an online open house.
SNOQUALMIE PASS – Cross-state travelers who use Interstate 90 will need to add extra travel time to their trips now through fall due to several road-improvement projects.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will repair dozens of bridge decks, stabilize slopes and fix sections of pavement.
It's easier to skid or lose control traveling at higher speeds. Give yourself more time to stop.
Winter conditions could mean chains are required on your route. Practice putting them on your vehicle ahead of time.
Carry extra supplies like warm clothing, ice scraper and brush, jumper cables and other emergency items.
