I-90 Vantage Bridge – Replace Bridge Deck and Special Repairs

Project overview

This project replaces the existing bridge deck on the I-90 Vantage Bridge to maintain the structural integrity, ensure the safety of the highway and extend the life of the bridge. The Vantage Bridge was built in 1962 and the last time the bridge received a major overhaul was in 1982.

What to expect

Lane closure and width restrictions have been updated as of June 12, 2024. Please read carefully. 

Travel restrictions now through the end of August

  • Eastbound
    • One lane closed Monday mornings through Thursday evenings.
  • Westbound
    • One lane closed Tuesday mornings through Friday evenings.
  • 10-foot width restrictions in both directions.
  • Reduced speeds through the work zone.

After Labor Day

  • One lane closed in each direction 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • 9-foot width restrictions in both directions.
  • Reduced speeds through the work zone.

Exceptions:

  • Fourth of July week: All lanes open from 7 a.m. Monday, July 1, until 8 p.m. Monday, July 8.
  • Labor Day weekend: All lanes open from 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, until 8 p.m. Monday Sept. 3.

Travelers will experience long delays eastbound on Fridays and westbound on Sundays during the summer travel months and are encouraged to choose alternate routes.

Construction will take approximately three years.

Work to replace the I-90 Vantage bridge starts spring 2024.
