In-person open house scheduled for Feb. 26

BREMERTON – It’s no secret: Traffic backups in and around Gorst are a common occurrence.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is conducting a study to look at State Routes 3, 16, 166 and 304 in Gorst. The study focuses on improving transportation in the area.

The public is invited to learn more about this Planning and Environmental Linkages study in online and in-person events.

UPDATE: Please note that the 80-day closure on US 101 at Tumwater Creek will now begin Monday, March 3, which is now reflected in the release below.

Two-year project includes long-term closures on US 101, SR 116

PORT ANGELES – A project to remove four barriers to fish in Clallam and Jefferson counties is scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 24.

Crews will now begin demolition of nearly 100-year-old original span

PORT ANGELES – Now that the first vehicles have crossed its span, a project almost eight years in the making can be crossed off the list: The long-awaited new bridge over the Elwha River on US 101 is now open to traffic.

Public input needed on roundabouts, pedestrian, and bicycle improvements

PORT ANGELES – Community members are invited to participate in an online open house to learn more about improvements on US 101.

All traffic detoured via SR 112 and SR 113 during closure

PORT ANGELES – Crews are in the homestretch to open a new bridge over the Elwha River on US 101 west of Port Angeles.

To finish the new bridge, travelers will see an increase in construction work leading up to a nine-day closure of US 101.

Crews will dig through sections of highway to remove, replace culverts that block fish from upstream habitat

KAMILCHE – After the Fourth of July, both directions of State Route 108 west of Kamilche will close three separate times for a fish barrier removal project.

Crews to remove barriers to fish at 5 locations between Hoquiam and Pacific Beach

HOQUIAM – This summer, trips to coastal beach communities between Hoquiam and Pacific Beach may include a couple different routes.

Washington State Department of Transportation’s contractor Kiewit will remove and replace culverts under the highway at five locations. Travelers will follow detours around five separate work zones on State Route 109.

The detours will provide access to coastal businesses and communities.
