OLYMPIA – This summer, whether heading to the Hoh Rainforest or windswept Pacific Ocean beaches, travelers will see some additional views through the windshield: orange cones and multiple work zones.

SHELTON – Preliminary work starting in August on State Route 108 in Mason County will lead up to major construction scheduled to begin in September on the highway. The work is part of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s ongoing effort to remove barriers to fish passage under state highways.

Gardiner: Expect 90-minute delays on US 101 during weeklong lane closure

Plan for extra travel time starting 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13

BLYN – US 101 travelers between Jefferson and Clallam counties are encouraged to plan ahead to help prevent long delays during an upcoming weeklong lane closure.

The highway will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic from 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, through the evening of Friday, Aug. 18. There also will be a reduced speed limit on US 101 from 55 mph to 25 mph between Knapp Road and Diamond Point Road, or milepost 273.93 to milepost 274.79.

US 101 to close north of Quilcene for 22 days starting July 31

QUILCENE – Travelers heading out along the Hood Canal on US 101 in Jefferson County should take note of a culvert-replacement detour beginning Monday, July 31, and lasting for 22 days.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, July 31, US 101 will close a few miles north of Quilcene from Leland Valley Road to Leland Cut Off Road. The road will remain closed until 7 p.m. Monday, August 21.

Fish passage improvement work underway on US 101 in Clallam and Jefferson counties

Travelers should plan for lane reductions, delays Aug. 13-18 between Gardner and Sequim

SEQUIM – A multi-year project that will correct six culverts under US 101 in Jefferson and Clallam counties to improve fish passage and migration in the area is now underway.

The week of July 10, construction crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will begin mobilizing equipment into a work zone on US 101 between Diamond Point/Chicken Coop Road and Guilles Road/Knapp Road at Eagle Creek in Clallam County.

Travelers will use 23-mile detour July 9-31 while crews remove multiple fish passage barriers in Grays Harbor County

HOQUIAM – Travelers using US 101 north of Hoquiam are encouraged to plan for extra travel time starting the evening of Sunday, July 9.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close 2 miles of US 101 between Failor Lake Road and Larson Brothers Road from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 9 to 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 31.
