Project overview
This project removed a metal pipe under the roadway and replaced it with a fish passable structure to improve fish passage for Red Creek and Unnamed Tributary under State Route 20. The work took place between Helmick Road (milepost 68) and Sims Road (milepost 69), east of Sedro-Woolley.
This fish passage project removed the existing metal pipe and replace it with a fish passable structure. This fish passage, an 11-foot span buried structure provides an estimated one-mile of habitat gain. Additionally, the project will include grading ditches, realigning the stream, placing woody material and installing guardrail. The roadway improvements included new pavement and pavement markers.

The project was completed in October 2023. Travelers should not expect to see any construction-related Delays in the project area.
