Project overview
This project will rehabilitate approximately 11.25 miles of SR 20 in Stevens and Pend Oreille Counties from S. Fork Mill Creek Road to Tiger by removing the surface of the existing pavement and paving with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) to create a smoother ride and preserve the roadway for years to come.
What to expect
This project was completed in October, 2024. There are no impacts to the traveling public.

This section was last paved in 1999 and Bituminous Surface Treatments (BST) were applied in 2010 and 2011. The existing HMA underneath the BST surfacing is failing which has resulted in potholing, raveling, and BST layers stripping off the surface. The centerline rumble strip which was installed in 2019 is also failing throughout the length of the project causing numerous potholes.
