Project overview
To improve safety and reduce head-on collisions, crews will construct a single-lane roundabout at State Route 104 and SR 19 (Beaver Valley Road).
Roundabouts are a proven solution to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions while maintaining a consistent flow of traffic. Improvements will also be made for those who walk or roll.
What to expect
Due to environmental permitting delays, this project, along with the SR 104 - Paradise Bay - Shine Road - Intersection Safety Improvement project, will be constructed in 2024.
During construction, travelers can expect shifted lanes, a reduced speed limit and temporary lane closures while crews work in phases to construction the roundabout. Crews will maintain one-lane of traffic in both directions during construction. Any highway closures will be announced in advance.
Travelers should be prepared for unannounced SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge openings due to Department of Defense or other military vessels and plan accordingly.
A roundabout is planned for SR 104/Beaver Valley Road (SR 19) to improve safety and reduce collisions near the Hood Canal Bridge. Further south, crews will also install a roundabout a Paradise-Bay/Shine Roads beginning in late spring 2023.
