I-90/EB Mercer Slough to 150th Ave SE - Paving

From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Sunday through Thursday nights starting June 7, up to three lanes of eastbound I-90 will close between 118th Avenue Southeast and 150th Avenue Southeast in Bellevue for asphalt grinding and paving.

Multiple eastbound I-90 on- and off-ramps in the area also will close Sunday through Thursday nights, including the northbound and southbound I-405 ramps to eastbound I-90. Signed detours will guide people around the ramp closures.

Project overview

This project will repave nearly two miles of eastbound Interstate 90 from 118th Avenue Southeast (MP 9.72) to 150th Avenue Southeast (MP 11.55) in Bellevue. Crews working for WSDOT will grind away the existing roadway then apply fresh pavement and lane markings. Crews also will seal transverse joints and replace headers on the bridge crossing over Richards Road.

What to expect

Contractor crews will begin work June 7, 2026, and continue into October 2026, pending favorable weather.

From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Sunday night through Friday morning most weeks, contractor crews will close multiple ramps and up to three lanes of eastbound I-90 between Bellevue Way Southeast and 150th Avenue Southeast. Signed detours will help guide people around ramp closures, and people should expect delays on the eastbound freeway during working hours.

Some Saturday night lane closures also are likely for bridge work over Richards Road.

This project will rehabilitate nearly two miles of eastbound I-90 from 118th Avenue Southeast to 150th Avenue Southeast.

Nearly 115,000 vehicles travel eastbound on I-90 through Bellevue daily. Last paved in 2001, the surface on eastbound I-90 between Mercer Slough and 150th Ave Southeast is showing its age.

Crews working for WSDOT will grind and inlay the pavement for this roadway segment with hot mix asphalt to rehabilitate the existing pavement and preserve the roadway surface. Crews also will reseal joints and replace headers on the eastbound I-90 bridge over Richards Road.
