I-5/SB East Edgar St to East Gwinn Place Noise Wall

The right lane of southbound I-5 and the off-ramp to Boylston Avenue East will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21-22, to prepare the area to build a noise wall. A signed detour will be available during the ramp closures, with more details available on the Travel Center Map.

Project overview

This project will build a noise wall along southbound Interstate 5 from East Edgar Street to Franklin Avenue East. Contractor crews working for WSDOT will construct a new noise wall to abate noise from the I-5 express lanes just south of the Ship Canal Bridge between Lake Union and Portage Bay.

What to expect

Crews working for WSDOT will construct a new noise wall along Boylston Avenue East, just north of East Edgar Street, and continuing along the west side of I-5 to Franklin Avenue East. Travelers should plan for lane restrictions and closures on Boylston Avenue East and Franklin Avenue East throughout the project. Nighttime and weekend single lane closures of southbound I-5 as well as the exit to Boylston Avenue East are also expected.

 

 

Noise wall improvements will be made along Boylston Avenue East and southbound I-5 from East Edgar Street to Franklin Avenue East.
