The right lane of southbound I-5 and the off-ramp to Boylston Avenue East will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21-22, to prepare the area to build a noise wall. A signed detour will be available during the ramp closures, with more details available on the Travel Center Map.
Project overview
This project will build a noise wall along southbound Interstate 5 from East Edgar Street to Franklin Avenue East. Contractor crews working for WSDOT will construct a new noise wall to abate noise from the I-5 express lanes just south of the Ship Canal Bridge between Lake Union and Portage Bay.

Travelers should plan for lane restrictions and closures on Boylston Avenue East and Franklin Avenue East throughout the project. Nighttime and weekend single lane closures of southbound I-5 as well as the exit to Boylston Avenue East are also expected.
