Airport Aid Grant Awards (2019-2021 Biennium)
2019 - WSDOT awards $1.4 million in state funds to 21 airports during the first round of 2019-2021 grants

Over eighty-eight percent ($46.7 million) of the $53 million in federal, state and local aid investment dollars is slated for projects that preserve and improve critical airport pavement. Two safety projects account for over eight percent ($4.6 million) of the combined grant dollars, while four planning projects account for the remaining three percent ($1.7 million).

Thirty-six airports applied for over $5 million in grants for this round. WSDOT's grant program is funded through an 11-cent-per gallon fee on aviation fuel, along with aircraft registration fees, and aircraft excise tax.
WSDOT anticipates soliciting applications for the second round of 2019-2021 biennium grants in February and March 2020. Award notifications for that round of grants is targeted for the week of May 11, 2020.
