What to expect

Johansen Construction Company is the contractor for this project. Project work started April 3.  To expedite construction, the contractor will set up a detour for Easy Street and work Monday through Saturday.  For the first week of construction, travelers can expect intermittent flagger controlled traffic in the area as the contractor mobilizes for the detour.  On Thursday, April 6 a temporary traffic circle will be installed at the intersection of Euclid Avenue to the eastbound on-ramp to the Odabashian Bridge and a temporary four-way stop will be installed at the intersection of Easy Street and School Street in Sunnyslope.

Beginning the night of April 5, the contractor will begin setting up for the Easy Street intersection closure.  Travelers can expect flagger controlled traffic with delays on the north-south Easy Street access to US 2/97 on Monday.  By Saturday morning, April 8, Easy Street will be closed at the intersection of US 2/97 north to Ohme Garden Road, and south approximately 250 ft. from the intersection to the business access driveways.  Traffic will be detoured onto Ohme Garden Road to the US 97A roundabout.  A temporary four-way stop has been installed at the intersection of Easy Street and School Street in Sunnyslope to help the flow of detour traffic.  Additionally, a temporary traffic circle has been installed at the intersection of Euclid Avenue to the eastbound on-ramp to the Odabashian Bridge.

On Saturday, April 15, the northbound SR 285 ramp will close and traffic will be detoured on to the Penny Road on-ramp.  This will detour additional traffic to local city streets and travelers should plan for longer than normal travel times in the area.  For the first phase of the detour, the ramp remained open and traffic with be merged with eastbound US 2/97 for access onto US 2/97 Odabashian Bridge.  A complete description of the detours with maps, is available on the WSDOT blog.

The US 2 - US 97 Easy St Roundabout will install a multi-lane roundabout and enhanced multimodal facilities including transit pull outs and pedestrian upgrades at the current site of the signalized intersection.
