SR 500 - NE 182nd Ave - Intersection Improvements

Project overview

Crash data over a five-year timeframe between 2013 to 2017 showed most of the crashes occurring along this stretch of highway were rear-end or at-angle crashes. We are beginning work to design a compact roundabout to help improve safety and travel efficiency at the intersection.

What to expect

Construction of a compact roundabout at the intersection of SR 500 and Northeast 182nd Avenue will improve use of the intersection from all directions. Construction will require temporary closures at the intersection for a period of time.

Community members who travel in east Clark County are invited to provide input to help determine how crews will close SR 500/Northeast 182nd Avenue during construction in summer 2022.

State Route 500 near Northeast 182nd is located in east Clark County, just outside the city of Vancouver. The intersection is located along a curved stretch of the roadway which can make it difficult for travelers to see vehicles stopped ahead wanting to turn left off of the highway. The drafted compact roundabout is being designed for vehicles such as buses and large trucks (WB-50), and can accommodate WB-67 trucks through use of the central island.
