SR 302 - E of Elgin Clifton Rd to SR 16 - Remove fish barriers, paving and ADA compliance

Project overview

Beginning in summer 2022, contractor crews will begin fish barrier corrections to replace two outdated culverts at Little Minter Creek along State Route 302. Since 2019, crews have complete paving and ADA ramp work for eight miles of Key Peninsula Highway (SR 302) in addition to correcting three identified barriers to salmon and resident fish.

Work at Little Minter Creek will require up to an 8-day around-the-clock closure. The dates of the future closure will be announced as they are scheduled.

What to expect

Minter Creek bridge construction is complete. 

Beginning summer 2022, contractor crews will remove two outdated culverts at Little Minter Creek. During construction, travelers can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures. The speed limit between mileposts 10 and 11 will be temporarily reduced from 45 mph to 25 mph. 

Beginning summer 2022, crews will return to Little Minter Creek near Purdy in Pierce County to replace outdated culverts under the highway.
