SR 20/Olson Creek and Unnamed Tributary to Skagit River - Fish Passage

Project overview

Contractor crews working on behalf of WSDOT will replace the culvert crossings under State Route 20 at an unnamed tributary to Skagit River (milepost 94) and Olson Creek (milepost 105) in Marblemount. The current culverts are barriers to fish passage, which will be replaced with structures that will allow spawning fish to pass beneath SR 20.

What to expect

Section 1 – Unnamed tributary to Skagit River (milepost 94) – in progress

Traffic is currently back on SR 20, after using a two-lane shoofly (or temporary detour) as contractor crews constructed the bridge. Travelers should expect occasional flagging stoppages for equipment and material mobilizations.

Section 2 – Olson Creek (milepost 105) – in progress

From 6 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2024 until 6 a.m. Friday, September 13, a four-day closure of SR 20 will be in place at Olson Creek near Ranger Station Road (milepost 105) in Marblemount,. Contractor crews working on behalf of WSDOT will remove the existing culvert, construct the new stream-crossing structure, and construct retaining walls. Additionally, crews will make roadway improvement, which include paving, striping and installing guardrail and will install other roadway safety items.

A signed detour will direct traffic along SR 530, Rockport Cascade Road and Cascade River Road.
