What to expect

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 and Tuesday through Friday, Nov. 12 to 15, travelers can expect one-way alternating traffic west of Hoquiam.

The work will allow crews to complete the fish barrier removal project.

Travelers are encouraged to add more time to help prevent delays.

History and background

Program overview

State highways cross rivers and streams in thousands of locations throughout Washington.

Some crossings can impede fish migration.

Since 1991, WSDOT has worked to improve fish passage and foster healthy waterways. This is done by removing barriers that keep fish and other aquatic species from moving under the state highway.

Since 2013, WSDOT has worked to follow the requirements of a U.S. District Court injunction to correct barriers to salmon and steelhead.

These culverts part of a larger effort in Grays Harbor, Jefferson and Clallam Counties. The work will remove 29 barriers to fish under state highways.
