During 2023, we repaired the decks of 17 bridges in King, Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties.
The bridges have concrete surfaces that had deteriorated over time. Many had a patchwork of repairs to fill potholes, ruts and cracks. This created a bumpy ride. In addition, water could collect in these areas and become icy during freezing temperatures.
Repairing the bridge decks by removing select areas of damaged concrete and placing a new layer will extend the service life of these bridges and provide a smoother and safer trip for highway users.
