In winter 2022-23 contractor crews will repair a girder that supports 142nd Place Southeast over Southeast Eastgate Way and I-90. The girder was damaged when it was struck by a track hauling construction equipment that was too tall. The northbound lane of 142nd remains closed.
What to expect
To repair the steel girder, crews will need about six weeks to replace the flange along the bottom of the girder, straighten the steel and attach plates to increase the strength of the girder. During this work, Southeast Eastgate Way will be closed to all vehicles near the 142nd Place overpass. People who use the 148th Avenue Southeast on-ramp to westbound I-90 also should expect nighttime closures. Once work is scheduled, we will post the specific dates.
Crews will need to close Southeast Eastgate Way near the Eastgate Park and Ride for about six weeks later this year to repair a damaged one of the steel girders that supports the 142nd Place Southeast overpass.
