I-5/SR 523 Interchange Improvement

Project overview

People who use the interchange at I-5 and SR 523 (North 145th Street) in Shoreline need safe and efficient ways to move through this area, using all modes of transportation. This will be increasingly important with the arrival of Sound Transit Link light rail and the new Shoreline South/148th Station, planned to open in 2024. The city of Shoreline is leading this project to replace signalized intersections on either side of I-5 with roundabouts and update lane configurations on the bridge over I-5. Other improvements include pedestrian crossings and bike lanes.

What to expect

The city of Shoreline expects to complete design work by fall 2023 and begin construction early 2024. Information on lane closures needed for construction will be available closer to the beginning of work.
