I-5 - Snohomish River Bridge Painting

Project overview

Corrosion from weather can damage bridges. Beginning in summer 2023, contractor crews will clean and paint the metal surfaces of the I-5 Snohomish River Bridge in Everett to prevent this. This work will prolong the life of the bridge.

What to expect

People traveling on I-5 won't see many effects because the work takes place underneath the freeway. The bridge also goes over Marine View Drive, so people who use Marine View Drive should expect two multi-day eastbound closures as we work in that section. We plan to keep westbound Marine View Drive open during work because it is the last freeway off-ramp in Everett.

Contractor crews will repaint the I-5 Snohomish River Bridge in Everett. Most of the work will take place underneath the freeway, limiting traffic effects to occasional closures on Marine View Drive.
