I-5/Duwamish River to S Lucile St – Concrete Pavement Rehab

Project overview

We will rehabilitate both directions of Interstate 5 between the Duwamish River and Lucile Street in Seattle. To do this, we will replace some of the panels, grind the highway to eliminate high spots and repair the expansion joints on the northbound and southbound I-5 overpasses above Military Road.

What to expect

During construction, people should plan for weeknight lane reductions on southbound I-5 between Boeing Access Road and SR 900/Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The SR 900/Martin Luther King Jr. Way ramp will be closed. Northbound lane reductions will stretch from Southcenter Parkway to SR 900/Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Southcenter Parkway off-ramp and Interurban on-ramp will close during the northbound lane reductions.

  • Nighttime single and multiple lane closures.
  • Weekend-long lane reductions to replace expansion joints and concrete panels.
  • On- and off-ramp closures.

We will grind the concrete roadway, replace some of the concrete panels and expansion joints between the Duwamish River and Lucile Street.
