I-5/Duwamish River to S Lucile St – Concrete Pavement Rehab

This section of I-5 opened in the late 1960s; it now carries about 176,000 vehicles every day. While some of the panels that make up the concrete surface of the highway have been replaced, for the most part the freeway between the Duwamish River and Lucile Street has not had any major rehabilitation work. In addition to replacing more concrete panels, our contractor crews will grind all lanes of the highway to eliminate ruts that have been worn by more than 50 years of vehicles using I-5. Removing the ruts eliminates an opportunity for water to puddle, which can reduce traction.
