What to expect
This is one of two projects occurring almost immediately adjacent to each other. Visit the Interstate 90 Vantage Bridge Deck Replacement and Special Repairs project page for more information.
Travelers encountered single-lane closures throughout the duration of the East of Vantage to Moses Lake project during working hours. In addition, travel advisories prior to the project reminded motorists of the upcoming closures.
During the planing and paving part of the project, speed was frequently reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph with an advisory speed of 40 mph. Travelers also encountered short-term ramp closures during working hours, and traffic was detoured to the nearest interchange to the closed ramps.
Working hours are as follows:
For Section 1 (Vantage to George): Night work, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This section will be the focus of the work starting in 2026.
For Section 2 (Dodson Road to milepost 181.77): Day work, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This section was the focus of the work during 2025.
The project will resume in the spring of 2026.
This map shows the length of the project's three sections on Interstate 90, from Vantage to George (Section 1), from Dodson Road to just west of Moses Lake, near Mae Valley, (Section 2), and from Mae Valley to just east of Moses Lake on Milepost 181, which is also part of Section 2.
This is a high-need project, with the two sections of roadway due for pavement restoration, according to the Washington State Pavement Management System.
