2024 OR Regionwide Chip Seal

Project overview

This project will extend the life of the highway and reduce the frequency of emergency repairs on sections of four state highways in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson and Pierce counties.

Chip sealing is a process where crews apply a protective surface to existing pavement.

What to expect

The speed limit will be lowered in work zones. Travelers will experience some delays. Highways will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic. Work areas:

Grays Harbor County
US 101 – Grays Harbor Co Line to South of Lund Road - (6.5 miles)

  • Legal speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.

US 101 – South of Lund Road to North of SR 107 (4 miles)

  • Legal speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.

SR 105 – Whalebone Way to SW of Constantine Way (9.5 miles)

  • Legal speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.

Jefferson County
US 101 – North of Big Quilcene River Bridge to North of Mt Walker Lookout Road (3 miles)

  • Legal speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.

Clallam County
SR 110 – US 101 to Lapush Road and Mora Spur (10 miles)

  • Speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.

Pierce County
SR 165 – North of Carbon River to South of 112th Street E (2 miles)

  • Legal speed limit reduced to 35 MPH in work zone.
