SR 520 closed across Lake Washington this weekend beginning Friday night, Oct. 6

This is the second of three consecutive SR 520 weekend closures

SEATTLE – Drivers traveling across Lake Washington should plan ahead for a weekend State Route 520 closure starting Friday, Oct. 6. The SR 520 closure will span between Interstate 5 in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill beginning at 11p.m. on Oct 6, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9.

The SR 520 Trail will remain open across the lake for pedestrians and bicyclists during the road closure. I-90 will be the best alternative to get across the lake all weekend. Traffic flow information is available using WSDOT’s real-time travel map online.

This is the second of three consecutive SR 520 closures planned across the lake. Crews will close SR 520 at least four more times by the end of the year. The project is scheduled to wrap up in Spring 2024.

Part of the SR 520 Montlake Project, the weekend closure is necessary to pave and work on utilities under the new Montlake Lid (PDF 476KB) in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood. The lid over SR 520 is slated to open in spring 2024.

Resources to stay informed about the project:

166,800 electric vehicle

registrations in Washington in 2023, up from 114,600 in 2022.

87 wetland compensation sites

actively monitored on 918 acres in 2023.
