Public invited to provide feedback on proposed pedestrian route across I-90 in Spokane

Open house on possible alternative routes due to demolished Magnolia Street bridge

SPOKANE – The community is invited to an open house on Wednesday, March 1, to hear and provide feedback about proposed pedestrian routes in Spokane’s East Central neighborhood.

With the Magnolia Street pedestrian bridge over Interstate 90 removed, alternative routes are necessary in the neighborhood. The east route uses Altamont Street while the west route uses Liberty Park Place.

Background

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Magnolia Street pedestrian bridge which spanned over I-90 was closed to those who bike, walk or roll. Safety concerns led to the bridge being removed. Currently, there is limited access for those who bike, walk or roll to use alternate routes, or require extensive detours in order to use sidewalks and ramps that meet ADA requirements.
