SNOQUALMIE PASS – Cross-state travelers who use Interstate 90 will need to add extra travel time to their trips now through fall due to several road-improvement projects.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will repair dozens of bridge decks, stabilize slopes and fix sections of pavement.
"This year there will be multiple projects along I-90, which means travelers need to be prepared for slowdowns and plan for a longer trip," said Brian White, WSDOT assistant region administrator for design and construction. "Please stay attentive and be patient while driving between North Bend and Ellensburg."
Contractor crews will also resume work on the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East Project to continue building a wider, safer and more reliable stretch of highway between the Cabin Creek and West Easton interchanges. Rock blasting resumes in June and will be complete in the fall. Crews will close I-90 several times a week, one hour before sunset for approximately one hour.
Travelers are encouraged to visit an online open house that provides details on the various construction projects and expected delays.
