SR 302 near Victor in Mason County to remain closed until further notice due to roadway settlement

SR 302 near Victor reopened March 9


BELFAIR – Both directions of State Route 302 east of Victor in Mason County will remain closed until further notice. Heavy rainfall triggered roadway settlement and sloughing. An 80-foot section of highway settled more than 6 inches.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is in the process of identifying what work is needed to reopen the highway. 

The roadway is open to local traffic only between milepost 1 in Mason County and milepost 7.5 in Pierce County. The highway is closed to all travelers at milepost 4.5.

People who usually use SR 302 between SR 3 and SR 16 will need use a 22-mile detour via SR 16 in Gorst or use alternative routes.
