SR 507 and SR 702 Roundabouts Pre-design Study

Planning study news

Thank you for taking the time to learn about the SR 507 and SR 702 Roundabouts Pre-design Study during the online open house. The pre-design study is complete and the project will move forward into design with construction scheduled for 2024.

Timeline
November 2021 - January 2022
Status
Complete
Budget
$1 - 2 Million per roundabout (subject to change)

Purpose

WSDOT routinely reviews rural area intersections on its state highway system to find ways to reduce potential crashes. As a result of this review, we will replace the existing stop signs at three intersections in Pierce County with single-lane roundabouts. These roundabouts fit within the existing intersection footprint.

The specific locations are on:

  • SR 507 at 208th Street East near Joint Base Lewis-McChord
  • SR 702 at Harts Lake Road South east of McKenna, and
  • SR 702 at 40th Avenue South/Allen Road east of McKenna
This study of the intersections on SR 507 and 702 analyzed the replacement of stop signs with a roundabout.
