Project overview
Since 2018, the Yakama Nation Tribal Council has signed resolutions supporting WSDOT’s proposals to add seven roundabouts at US 97 and SR 22 intersections. Roundabouts at US 97/ McDonald/Becker Road and at US 97/Jones Road are complete. Roundabouts at US 97/ SR 22, SR 22/ SR 223, and US 97/ Larue Rd have not been scheduled. Construction of the roundabout on US 97/ Lateral A began in 2025, is paused for the winter and will be complete in 2026.
What to expect

There is currently no timeline determined for the additional roundabouts.

The US 97 corridor has a history of severe and fatal collisions between Toppenish and Union Gap. WSDOT has been working with the Yakama Nation to develop a corridor safety improvement plan. In the fall of 2018, Yakama Nation Tribal Council agreed with WSDOT’s plan to construct two roundabouts on US 97 at McDonald Road & Becker Road and US 97 at Jones Road.
