What to expect

Construction on this project was completed in Sept. 2022.

Contractor crews worked to repair a nearly 20-mile stretch of US 97, between Centerville Road and Ski Lodge Road, creating a smoother, safer driving surface for all users of the highway.

Last paved in 2010, several sections along this 20-mile stretch of US 97 between Centerville Road at milepost 7.0 and Ski Lodge Road at milepost 27.0, in Klickitat County, were nearing the end of their useful life and needed repaired.

This work improves the structural integrity of the highway and extends the useful life of the road for many years to come.

  • Safety: Improving the highway surface eliminates and helps prevent future potholes. Fresh pavement removes cracks and wheel ruts where water can collect. This gives drivers an improved ride especially when driving in the rain.
  • Economic/Preservation: Repaving preserves the highway structure and reduces the potential for costly emergency repairs and closures.
