US 101/Chehalis River Bridge - Bridge Bearing Replacement - Complete January 2025

Bridge bearings help transfer loads through the bridge to the ground. To do this, the bearings allow expansion and contraction of the structure while restricting movements of the bridge deck. They work to keep the structure stable.

The bridge is close to 70 years old. Original parts of the bridge have deteriorated due to time and weather. The bearings under the ramps on the north side of the US 101 Chehalis River Bridge in Aberdeen did not move as intended anymore and have been replaced.
