What to expect

WSDOT'S contractor, Tucci & Sons Inc., closed lanes both day and night on SR 8 and SR 108 to grind out the old asphalt and install a fresh surface. Travelers saw an eastbound SR 8 work zone. The work zone was between US 12 in Elma (Grays Harbor County) and US 101 in Thurston County west of Mud Bay. Crews replaced the asphalt on about 21-miles in the left lane. Workers replaced 5-miles of asphalt in the right lane. They also replaced the asphalt on about three miles in the left lane of westbound SR 8.

On SR 108/West Simpson Avenue, travelers saw one-lane of alternating traffic during the night while crews repaved the roadway. The SR8/SR 108 Junction closed to keep people moving on SR 8. Travelers heading to and from McCleary detoured via Mox Chehalis Road.

A temporary speed limit reduction was in place on SR 8 during the project. The 60 mph speed limit was reduced to 45 mph from milepost 0 to 20.63.
