SR 520 - Floating Bridge and Approaches Bridge Decks and Soffit Sealer

Project overview

Crews working for WSDOT will apply spray sealant to the bridge deck and soffits near expansion joints in both directions of the State Route 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge. The sealant will protect the bridge from corrosion, prolong its service life and help keep the bridge in a state of good repair.

What to expect

People can expect two weeks of nighttime directional lane restrictions to prepare the bridge for sealing and two weekends of directional closures of SR 520 to apply the sealant.

Directional nighttime lane restrictions:
Two lanes in the eastbound direction of SR 520 will be restricted at night for one week and two lanes in the westbound direction of SR 520 will be restricted for another week. In Clyde Hill, the 84th Avenue Northeast on-ramp to westbound SR 520 will close for up to four nights with a detour to Bellevue Way Northeast. In Seattle, the Montlake Boulevard off-ramp from westbound SR 520 will close for up to four nights with a detour using northbound Interstate 5 to Northeast 45th Street to southbound I-5 to eastbound SR 520.

Directional weekend bridge closures:
The SR 520 bridge will have two weekend closures from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Westbound, the SR 520 bridge will be closed from 92nd Avenue Northeast to Montlake Boulevard for one weekend. The SR 520 trail will also be closed when westbound SR 520 is closed. Eastbound, the SR 520 bridge will be closed from Montlake Boulevard to the eastern SR 520 bridge end for one weekend.

Spray sealant will be applied to both directions of the SR 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge from just east of Montlake Boulevard East to just west of Evergreen Point Road.
