SR 26 Dusty to Colfax - Add Climbing Lanes

Project overview

This project will create three truck climbing lanes, or passing lanes, for vehicles who travel along SR 26 between Dusty and Colfax in Whitman County. One climbing lane will be built westbound and two will be built eastbound on SR 26. The Washington legislature approved the addition of a fourth climbing lane which will be constructed in 2024.

What to expect

This project was awarded to Shamrock Paving with construction beginning in 2022. Work on the first three passing lanes was completed in 2023. 

The fourth climbing lane went on ad in October 2023, with construction anticipated to begin on the fourth in late spring 2024.
