SR 17 Moses Lake Vicinity Paving and ADA

Project overview

A section of roadway on SR 17 between Patton Boulevard and the Interstate 90 interchange is due for resurfacing. Pedestrian facilities at intersections along the way will also be updated to the standards set by the Americans With Disabilities Act.
The project will start with pedestrian crossings at Pioneer, Broadway Avenue, Wheeler Road and Nelson Road getting updated.

Timeline
April 2024-July 2024
Project status
Pre-construction
Funding
$5.845 million

What to expect

Travelers on SR 17 will encounter single-lane closures on the highway, along with zones of flagger-controlled traffic. The work will occur during nighttime hours, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The ADA work will likely occur first, and it will entail the replacement of existing curb ramps, as well as updating the signals, detection systems and pedestrian push-button systems.

There will be two temporary detours, one at the Interstate 90 ramp on Exit 179 and another near the intersection of Stratford Road and SR 17.

The project is scheduled to last 70 working days.

Not taking care of this stretch of road will lead to further deterioration of the road, which in turn will cost more money to fix.
