Project overview
On July 7, 2022, an oversized load hauling a wind turbine blade was traveling eastbound on SR 14, when it struck and damaged the underside of the Lieser Road overpass, located about 4 miles east of Interstate 5 (I-5), causing significant damage to the structure.
This project repaired six girders on the southern span and replaced one girder on the east end of the southern span over eastbound SR 14. Girders, sometimes referred to as beams, are a main structural component of a bridge that provides vertical support for the bridge deck. Additionally, the guardrail on the southeast corner of the bridge was replaced to meet height and safety requirements.
