I-90/Homer Hadley East Approach Bridge - Modular Expansion Joint

Project overview

In September 2022, contractor crews working for WSDOT will replace the original expansion joint on the east end of the westbound I-90 Homer Hadley bridge that connects Mercer Island to Seattle.

What to expect

Travelers can expect continuous lane closures on westbound I-90 at West Mercer Way while crews replace the expansion joint that connects the bridge to Mercer Island. The first weekend of work is complete; during the final weekend crews will replace the joint across the I-90 mainline. This will require:

  • Now until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, all lanes of westbound I-90 will close.

People traveling to the west side of Lake Washington will need to use either I-405 or SR 520, which is a toll bridge.

Westbound I-90 will have a weekend-long closure Sept. 23-26, 2022. Also, the West Mercer Way ramp will be closed the weekend of Sept. 16-19.
