SR 20 Unnamed Tributary to Red Creek Fish Passage

Project overview

This project removes a metal pipe under the roadway begins. Once the pipe is removed, a fish passable structure will be installed for to improve fish passage Red Creek and Unnamed Tributary under State Route 20. This work will take place between Helmick Road (milepost 68) and Sims Road (milepost 69), east of Sedro-Woolley.

This fish passage project will remove the existing metal pipe and replace it with . This fish passage, an 11-foot span buried structure provides an estimated one-mile of habitat gain. Additionally, the project will include grading ditches, realigning the stream, placing woody material and installing guardrail. The roadway improvements include new pavement and pavement markers.

What to expect

People should plan ahead for delays. 

  • Weekday daytime shoulder closures in the work zone.
  • From 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, a bypass signal and flaggers alternating eastbound and westbound SR 20 traffic.
  • A detour will be in place for pedestrians and bicyclists off of SR 20 around the work zone.
