Project overview
This project will remove the existing signal at the intersection and build a multilane roundabout on SR 17 at the intersection of Grape Dr. Construction is scheduled to be complete September 2022.
What to expect
Construction began May 9. Intermittent flagger controlled traffic will be necessary and will occur mostly during nighttime hours to reduce travel impacts.
Beginning Monday, July 11, SR 17 remains reduced to a single lane in both directions at the intersection of Grape Drive. All turning movements are allowed through the intersection and there are no detours.
Traffic control in the following weeks of construction will include single lane closures of SR 17. The intersection will function as a single lane roundabout with all turning movements allowed. Travelers can expect flagger-controlled traffic with delays between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Sidewalks will be constructed at all corners of the intersection, which will make connections to crosswalks at all legs of the intersection. The pedestrian route along the west side of Grape will be widened to 10 feet along the existing Joe Rodgers Trail. Pedestrian improvements will extend to the south as far as the intersection of Grape Dr. and Gary St.
