Public invited to open house in Fife for update on SR 167 Completion Project in Pierce County

Open house on June 4 offers opportunity to see project plans, review construction progress and speak with staff

FIFE – Community members are invited to attend an in-person open house on Tuesday, June 4 in Fife to learn more about ongoing and planned construction to extend State Route 167 from Puyallup to SR 509 near the Port of Tacoma.

Upgrades are coming to people who travel on SR 167 from Auburn to Renton

Construction begins in late 2023 on project that will update the SR 167 toll system and construct an auxiliary lane

KENT - On July 14, the Washington State Department of Transportation awarded the design-build contract for the SR 167 Corridor Improvements Project. This project will update the State Route 167 toll system to create consistency along the Interstate 405 and SR 167 corridor and add an auxiliary lane southbound on SR 167.

BELLEVUE – The public is invited to attend a meeting with the I-405/SR 167 Corridor Program Executive Advisory Group Wednesday, May 24, to hear an update on the projects and work.

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s I-405/SR 167 Corridor Program includes more than 150 unique, coordinated multimodal projects, that enhance user experience and bring increased reliability to one of the state’s busiest corridors.

KENT – The future of State Route 167 is beginning to take shape. In 2022, community members contributed ideas to improve the movement of people and goods along SR 167. The public is now invited to learn how the Washington State Department of Transportation used that feedback to shape plans and identify future improvements along the highway.

It's easier to skid or lose control traveling at higher speeds. Give yourself more time to stop.

Carry chains, practice installing them.

Winter conditions could mean chains are required on your route. Practice putting them on your vehicle ahead of time.

Pack your winter car kit.

Carry extra supplies like warm clothing, ice scraper and brush, jumper cables and other emergency items.
