I-405 and SR 522 closures in Bothell begin Feb. 20 to remove ramps and open space for I-405 expansion

Weekend closures part of Puget Sound’s high-impact construction in 2026

BOTHELL – A visible shift is about to take place at the Interstate 405/State Route 522 Interchange in Bothell. Beginning Feb. 20, crews will start removing large flyover ramps that once carried northbound I-405 traffic to SR 522.

UPDATE: The series of westbound SR 18 lane, ramp and directional closures has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. The scheduled work on the SR 99 First Avenue Bridge has also been canceled. The information has been removed in the news release below.

Plan ahead for Eastside travel: full closure of northbound and southbound I-405 in Renton for drainage work

RENTON – Summer is here and so is the summer construction season, including a full closure of northbound and southbound Interstate 405 in Renton starting at 11 p.m., Friday, July 12, to 4 a.m., Monday, July 15.

New ramps and I-405 interchange opening soon at Northeast 132nd Street in Kirkland

KIRKLAND – Relief is coming for drivers who regularly experience delays accessing Interstate 405 in Kirkland’s Totem Lake area.

Weather permitting, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will open the new Northeast 132nd Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 and southbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 132nd Street on Monday, April 29.

Spring project will improve safety of guardrails and barriers in King, Snohomish and Whatcom counties

SHORELINE – A project to update and improve the safety of 24 guardrails and barriers across King, Snohomish and Whatcom counties begins mid-March, adding energy-absorbing features to reduce the impacts of crashes.

Slow down on ice and snow.

Carry chains, practice installing them.

Winter conditions could mean chains are required on your route. Practice putting them on your vehicle ahead of time.

Pack your winter car kit.

Carry extra supplies like warm clothing, ice scraper and brush, jumper cables and other emergency items.
