PURDY – For the first time in three years, fish swimming upstream in Little Minter Creek are encountering fewer obstacles. The same can be said for travelers making their way through the work zone on State Route 302.

SR 302 near Victor reopened March 9
BELFAIR – Both directions of State Route 302 east of Victor in Mason County will remain closed until further notice. Heavy rainfall triggered roadway settlement and sloughing. An 80-foot section of highway settled more than 6 inches.
The Washington State Department of Transportation is in the process of identifying what work is needed to reopen the highway.
Slow down on ice and snow.
It's easier to skid or lose control traveling at higher speeds. Give yourself more time to stop.
Carry chains, practice installing them.
Winter conditions could mean chains are required on your route. Practice putting them on your vehicle ahead of time.
Pack your winter car kit.
Carry extra supplies like warm clothing, ice scraper and brush, jumper cables and other emergency items.
