The following carpool requirements are in effect for the I-405 Express Toll Lanes between NE 6th St in Bellevue and I-5 in Lynnwood.
Weekday peak hours: 3+ people in the vehicle
Weekday off-peak hours: 2+ people in the vehicle
Weekends and evenings: The lanes are not tolled and are free to everyone
To travel toll-free as a carpool on I-405 during weekdays you must meet the occupancy requirements, have a Good To Go! account and Flex Pass set to HOV mode.
The I-405 express toll lanes are open to all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight under 10,000 lbs. toll-free 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday-Friday, on weekends, and on the following holidays (according to WAC 468-270-120): New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
To travel toll-free as a carpool in the SR 167 HOT Lanes you need 2+ people in the vehicle.
You do not need a Good To Go! pass to carpool. However, if you have a pass on your vehicle it must be a Good To Go! Flex Pass set to HOV mode, otherwise you will be charged a toll.
Solo drivers using the SR 167 HOT lanes must have a Good To Go! pass to pay the toll.
Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight over 10,000 lbs. are prohibited from using the SR 167 HOT lanes.
On SR 520, Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and the SR 99 tunnel, carpoolers are not exempt from paying the toll.
All exemptions are set by the Washington State Transportation Commission.
