SR 9 - SR 204 Intersection Improvements

Project overview

The intersection of SR 9 and SR 204 in Lake Stevens will be improved by adding four roundabouts and widening SR 9 to two lanes in each direction immediately south of the intersection. These improvements will help manage congestion and improve mobility, provide better access to area businesses and provide more travel options with improved connections for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and drivers.

What to expect

This project is being built in three stages. The first stage was completed in 2019. During the summer of 2021, highway users should expect overnight lane closures, shifted lanes and closures of cross streets. During this stage, contractor crews will build a second northbound lane from Market Place to 4th Street Northeast, dedicated right turn lanes and begin laying the groundwork for new noise walls on SR 9. The third stage of this project will be built in 2022.
