SR 9 - SR 204 Intersection Improvements

Project overview

The intersection of SR 9 and SR 204 in Lake Stevens will be improved by adding four roundabouts and widening SR 9 to two lanes in each direction immediately south of the intersection. These improvements will help manage congestion and improve mobility, provide better access to area businesses and provide more travel options with improved connections for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and drivers.

What to expect

This project is being built in three stages. Highway users should expect overnight lane closures, shifted lanes, and closures of cross streets. The first stage was completed in 2019. In 2021 work began on stage two which includes building a second northbound lane from Market Place to 4th Street Northeast, dedicated right turn lanes and begin laying the groundwork for new noise walls on SR 9. The third stage of this project is tentatively scheduled to begin in summer 2022.

Learn more about what to expect in stage 3 by visiting an online open house, available until July 25. You can also find out how to connect with the project team.
