  • WSF had approximately 5.81 million riders in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, 4.5% more than the corresponding quarter in FY2022
  • WSF on-time performance was 75.8% in the first quarter of FY2024, up 1.2 percentage points from the same quarter in FY2023

FY2023 Q4 (April - June 2023)

  • WSF completed 35,812 (98.2%) of its 36,458 regularly scheduled trips in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023
  • WSF had approximately 4.93 million riders in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023, 8.4% more than the corresponding quarter in FY2022
  • WSF on-time performance was 81.6% in the fourth quarter of FY2023, down 0.2 percentage points from the same quarter in FY2022

  • WSF completed 40,585 (99.6%) of its 40,757 regularly scheduled trips in the second quarter of fiscal year 2020
  • WSF ridership was approximately 5.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2020, 1.6% more than the corresponding quarter in FY2019

FY2020 Q1 (July - September 2019)

  • WSF completed 42,631 (99.6%) of its 42,817 regularly scheduled trips in the first quarter of fiscal year 2020
  • WSF ridership was approximately 7.32 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 2020, 3.7% more than the corresponding quarter in FY2019

Background

Washington State Ferries operates the largest ferry system in the United States. It has 21 ferries that serve the Greater Puget Sound and its inland waterways at 19 different ports of call. In FY2023, WSF carried 18.2 million passengers. WSF acts as a marine highway for commercial users, tourists, and daily commuters alike.

Approximately 1,900 dedicated employees work together to make WSF a popular tourist attraction in the state.
