Public invited to open houses focused on SR 16 congestion relief study

PORT ORCHARD – On Wednesday, Oct. 25, and Thursday, Oct. 26, the Washington State Department of Transportation will host open houses regarding the SR 16 – Tacoma Narrows Bridge to SR 3 Congestion Study.

Residents will have an opportunity to learn about the study's purpose, key congestion issues along the corridor and outcomes from the public opinion survey. Participants can also share comments on ways to help reduce congestion along the corridor.

"As part of the Connecting Washington transportation package, this study will help us determine the best strategies to address the needs of this critical corridor over the next 20 years," said Dennis Engel, WSDOT Planning Manager.

Gig Harbor open house

Both events present opportunities to talk with agency staff. No formal presentation will be provided; rather, attendees are free to come at their convenience during the two-hour event. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the study and provide input via an online open house from Wednesday, Oct. 25 to Wednesday, Nov. 8.
